Schoustra, Grimes compete in pentathlon at U of M

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Junior Mackenzie Schoustra and senior Megan Grimes of the St. Olaf College women's track & field team competed in the pentathlon at the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse on Friday.

Competing primarily against Division I athletes, Schoustra placed 12th in the event, while Grimes was 15th in her first-ever pentathlon. Schoustra's total of 2,986 points was the sixth-best in indoor school history, moving her up one spot on the all-time list, while Grimes had 2,705 points over the five events.

Schoustra's 2,986 points also ranked 19th-best in Division III so far this season entering the weekend.

Schoustra placed in the top 10 in three of the five events, coming in eighth in the long jump (4.90m) and 10th in both the 60-meter hurdles (9.58) and high jump (1.53m). She was also 14th in the 800-meter run (2:41.50) and 14th in the shot put (8.80m).

Grimes' best finish was a fifth-place showing in the shot put (10.43m). She also finished 13th in the 60-meter hurdles (9.94), 14th in the long jump (4.60m), 16th in the high jump (1.44m) and 18th in the 800-meter run (2:54.75).

Next weekend, St. Olaf heads to the Macalester Hamster Invite in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 1.
