Lexi Wall of the St. Olaf College volleyball team earned All-Central Region honors, while sophomore middle blocker
Katelyn Lannom picked up Honorable Mention All-Central Region honors, as the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its NCAA Division III Regional Awards on Thursday morning.
Rewers was recognized in the regional awards for the third-straight season after collecting all-region honors last fall and honorable mention all-region honors in 2017. Wall and Lannom gathered the first regional accolades of their careers. Rewers and Wall are the first pair of St. Olaf teammates to earn all-region status in the same season since Kelly Prunty and Kim Smisek in 2010.
In her senior season, Rewers has put together the best statistical season of her career, recording career-highs in kills (419), service aces (45), digs (287) and points (498.5), while leading the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in kills and points. She also ranked in the conference's top-five in kills per set (3.55), aces, aces per set (0.38) and points per set (4.2). Rewers has tallied double-digit kills in 26 of St. Olaf's 31 matches and ranks 29th in NCAA Division III in total kills.
Wall leads NCAA Division III in total assists (1,392) and assists per set (11.70) in her junior season and has also contributed career-high totals in kills (52), attack percentage (.229), aces (25), digs (335) and points (98.5) from her spot as the team's setter. She has recorded at least 40 assists 23 times and has 18 assist-dig double-doubles to her credit. Wall's 1,392 assists rank ninth on St. Olaf's single-season list entering this week's NCAA Tournament.
Lannom added honorable mention all-region honors to her first All-MIAC accolade in her sophomore season. She has tallied career-bests in kills (341), kills per set (2.89), aces (52), aces per set (0.44), total blocks (88), points (441) and points per set (3.74). The sophomore ranks in the MIAC's top 10 in kills, kills per set, attack percentage (.354), aces, aces per set, total blocks, points and points per set, with her .354 attack percentage ranking in the top 40 nationally.
St. Olaf makes its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2010 when the Oles take on the University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Thursday at 3 p.m. at Schoenecker Arena in St. Paul.
