Volleyball nears top 25 in AVCA national poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team moved up in the "others receiving votes" portion of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)-Taraflex Division III Women's Volleyball Poll, as released on Tuesday.

After a 3-0 week that included a five-set victory at then No. 4-ranked UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, St. Olaf (17-5) collected 137 points in this week's balloting, which was an 89-point increase from last week. The 137 points were the most of any team not to make it into the top 25 this week.

After downing the nationally-ranked Blugolds on the road, the Oles picked up a four-set win over Macalester College and a sweep of UW-La Crosse in a tri-match on Saturday. The 3-0 week extended St. Olaf's winning streak to seven matches.

The Oles have either received votes or been ranked in 18 consecutive national polls dating back to Sept. 23, 2025. St. Olaf also moved up six spots to No. 32 in the NCAA Power Index (NPI), the metric used to evaluate teams for the NCAA Tournament, to start this week.

The Oles will be back at Skoglund Center for a 7 p.m. match against UW-Superior on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
