NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior
Lexi Wall of the St. Olaf College volleyball team was named to the 2019 Academic All-District Volleyball Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), on Thursday in recognition of her work on the court and in the classroom.
In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and must have been at his or her current institution for at least one academic year.
Wall's first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor was the latest in a line of accolades in the last two weeks for the junior, who was named a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) All-Conference selection for the third consecutive season and earned her first All-Central Region honor from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) earlier this month.
The Chanhassen native holds a 3.80 cumulative grade point average as a chemistry major. She has been named to the St. Olaf Dean's List (GPA > 3.75) three times and was a 2018-19 Academic All-MIAC selection.
On the court, Wall is the national leader in assists per set (11.67) among NCAA Division III student-athletes after recording a career-high 1,436 assists this season, a figure that ranks ninth in single-season program history. She handed out at least 40 assists in 24 of St. Olaf's 31 matches and posted 19 assist-dig double-doubles to help the Oles to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010.
As members of the First Team in District 6, Wall advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot. Academic All-America honorees be announced in early December.
