MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The St. Olaf College wrestling team was defeated by fifth-ranked Augsburg University, 57-0, in its first dual meet of the season on Tuesday evening at Si Melby Hall.
Augsburg (1-0) recorded three wins by pin, one by technical fall and one by major decision in the five contested bouts and received five defaults on its way to the victory over St. Olaf (0-1).
After a default at 125 to open the match, No. 3 Victor Gliva, a two-time All-American, pinned senior
Luke Wallace at 2:53 to double Augsburg's early lead to 12-0 and the Auggies extended the lead to 18-0 after a forfeit at 141.
At 149 pounds, No. 10 Aaron Wilson topped sophomore
Jack Ridgway by technical fall, 16-1 at 7:00, before Jack Vaselaar earned a 12-0 major decision over senior
Bryant Ridgway at 157 pounds to make it 27-0.
The other two contested bouts came at 184 pounds and 197 pounds, with No. 2 Tanner Vassar pinning first year
Kris Kurtz at 1:08 at 184 and Wyatt Richardson pinning first year
Robbie McGlynn II at 1:18 at 197.
