NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior
Johanna Glaaser was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash and established a new school record in the event to highlight the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's showing on day two of the 2019 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at Tostrud Fieldhouse.
Glaaser earned all-conference honors in the 400-meter dash with her second-place showing, topping
Abby Stets' time of 58.20 seconds from 2017. Bethel's Delia Labatt edged the junior at the line by one one-hundredth of a second to claim the MIAC title in the event. Glaaser's time is the 15th-fastest in Division III this season.
In the 60-meter hurdles, St. Olaf advanced two athletes to the finals, as reigning pentathlon champion
Mackenzie Schoustra finished sixth (9.66) and classmate
Laura Kammer was seventh (9.78). Kammer's preliminary-round time of 9.69 ranked seventh on St. Olaf's indoor list in the junior's first MIAC indoor meet.
The Oles got four other top-10 performances on the day, including two in the long jump, where Schoustra and
Ann Jansen tied for 10th (5.07m). The distance was a personal record for Jansen. Senior
Mary Naas provided a ninth-place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:59.03).
In the final event of the day, the distance medley relay of
Ellen Mickelson, Jansen,
Lauren Herland and
Meredith Moore placed sixth (13:01.24).
After day two, St. Olaf sits in seventh place with a team score of 32, leaving the Oles two points behind sixth-place Bethel. St. Thomas leads the teams standings by 28 points over Hamline with a total of 97 points.
The 2019 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships conclude on Saturday, Feb. 23, with field events beginning at 11 a.m. and track events starting at 1 p.m. at Tostrud Fieldhouse.
