NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior
Mackenzie Schoustra won the long jump as the St. Olaf College women's indoor track & field team finished third of seven teams at the Meet of Hearts hosted by Carleton College on Saturday.
Schoustra placed first in the long jump with a distance of 4.94 meters to edge Carleton's Tonya Piergies, who jumped 4.89 meters. The junior was one of four Oles in the top-five in the event, along with
Ann Jansen (third, 4.70m),
Emily Bohlig (fourth, 4.62m) and
Megan Grimes (fifth, 4.59m).
St. Olaf's 4x200-meter relay of
Johanna Glaaser, Elstad, Schoustra and Jansen took second with a time of 1:52.15. Grimes also posted two top-three individual finishes, coming in second in the 55-meter hurdles (9.31) and third in the 200-meter dash (28.00).
Laura Kammer joined Grimes in the top-three finishers in the 55-meter hurdles by placing third (9.40).
Jena Hauch came in third in the mile with a time of 5:30.43, just 17 one-hundredths of a second behind the second-place finisher, Sarah Presler of Bethany Lutheran.
The Oles got fourth-place finishes from Bohlig in the high jump (1.47m) and
Kierra Carter in the triple jump (9.41m), as well as fifth-place showings from
Mary Naas in the 3,000-meter run (10:47.84),
Lauren Markowski in the 5,000-meter run (20:03.16) and Grimes in the shot put (10.12m).
The 4x400-meter relay team of Jansen, Schoustra, Hauch and Elstad also posted a fifth-place finish (4:28.33).
As a team, St. Olaf accumulated 99.5 points in the seven-team meet. Hamline won the event with 189 points, followed by host Carleton in second with 151.
Next up for St. Olaf is the home Ole Women's Invite at the Skoglund Center on Friday, Feb. 15.
