NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Junior
Mackenzie Schoustra won two events and
Lisa Fisher,
Johanna Glaaser and
Paige Woldt each won one, as the St. Olaf College women's track & field hosted the Manitou Classic at Manitou Track on Thursday.
Schoustra won both the 100-meter hurdles and javelin throw, Fisher won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Glaaser claimed the 200-meter dash and Woldt took first in the triple jump to lead the way for St. Olaf.
After placing second in the prelims, Schoustra crossed the line first in the 100-meter hurdles finals in 16.20 seconds, three-quarters of a second ahead of Claire Chell of St. Thomas.
Lori Erlandson placed third in the event (17.75).
Schoustra moved up to fourth on St. Olaf's top-10 list in the javelin after winning the event with a throw of 36.67 meters (120' 4"), a PR of over two meters.
Kelsey Weed joined Schoustra in the top three in the event, placing third with a throw of 32.25 meters (105' 9").
In the steeplechase, Fisher finished 39 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher with a time of 11:29.65 to claim the event win.
Daisy Richmond and
Tayler Paulsen finished 4-5 in the event with times of 12:27.40 and 12:42.83, respectively.
Glaaser won the 200-meter dash in 26.56 seconds, 0.21 seconds ahead of Chell and one one-hundredth of a second ahead of her PR from last year's Tommie Twilight.
Makenna Ash posted a sixth-place showing while competing in heat two, finishing in 27.79 seconds.
Woldt climbed two spots to fifth on St. Olaf's top-10 list in the triple jump, winning the event by jumping 10.80 meters (35' 5.25"). Her previous top mark was 10.62 meters (34' 10.25").
In addition to the five individual first-place finishes, the 4x400-meter relay of
Stephanie Balas, Schoustra, Ash and Glaaser won the event in 4:03.69, outpacing St. Thomas by over four seconds. The quartet of
Hayli Marquette,
Jena Hauch,
Ellen Mickelson and
Carolyn Carpenter was fifth (4:15.57).
The Oles had three of the top-four finishers and four of the top 10 in the 800-meter run, as Balas was second (2:20.85), Mickelson took third (2:21.86) and Hauch placed fourth (2:22.12). Balas and Mickelson's times were personal bests, while Carpenter came in eighth (2:28.92).
Lauren Herland,
Emily Bohlig and Marquette logged third-place showings. Herland posted a PR by over 30 seconds in the 5,000-meter run (1:09.83), Bohlig added a personal best in the long jump (4.94m, 16' 2.5") and Marquette recorded a PR in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.83).
Herland was one of four Oles in the top-seven individuals in the 5,000-meter run, as she was joined by
Megan Rossman (fifth, 20:06.66),
Rachael Bentley (sixth, 21:49.44) and
Amy Requa (seventh, 22:04.45). Marquette (seventh, 4.69m, 15' 4.75") and Kayla LaRue (ninth, 4.21m, 13' 9.75") joined Bohlig in the top 10 of the long jump.
Other top-10 finishes came from
Holly Gordon in the 10,000-meter run (fourth, 41.46.78) and
Meredith Moore in the 1,500-meter run (ninth, 5:04.30).
St. Olaf heads across town for the Carleton Relays on Saturday, Apr. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at Laird Stadium.
