ST. PAUL, Minn. – Juniors
Johanna Glaaser and
Lisa Fisher, as well as sophomore
Paige Woldt, won events for the St. Olaf College women's track and field team to help the Oles to third at the 2019 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which concluded Saturday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium at the University of St. Thomas.

Makenna Ash finished 1-2 (tied for second) in the 400-meter dash, Fisher was victorious in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Woldt claimed the triple jump title for St. Olaf, which matched last season's third-place finish. The trio of event winners all earned All-MIAC honors, while six individuals and two relays achieved All-MIAC Honorable Mention honors.
All-MIAC honors were awarded to the top-three finishers in each individual event, as well first-place relays. All-MIAC Honorable Mention Honors were awarded to fourth- through sixth-place finishers and second- through sixth-place relays.
As a team, St. Olaf finished third in the 12-team field with 116 points. St. Thomas won its 15th-straight conference title, and its 35th in the 38 years of the event, with 156.50 points, followed by Hamline in second with 136 points. The Oles finished 39 points ahead of Bethel and Gustavus, who tied for fourth.
In the 400, Glaaser and Ash were the top-two finishers, with both posting top-five times on St. Olaf's all-time list. Glaaser's time of 57.34 seconds moved her into second in program history in the event, one one-hundredth of a second ahead of 1995 All-American Kris Hansen. Ash's time of 57.48 ranks fifth all-time, as she tied Bethel's Delia Labatt for the second spot.
Fisher won the steeplechase with a new personal-best time of 11:18.42, which ranks fourth on St. Olaf's top-10 list, while Woldt topped the standings in the triple jump by jumping 11.21 meters (36' 9.5").
In addition to their 1-2 finish in the 400, Ash and Glaaser ran the last two legs of the third-place 4x400-meter relay for St. Olaf.
Mackenzie Schoustra and
Jena Hauch ran the first two legs, as the relay clocked in at 3:59.50, to enter St. Olaf's top-10 list at ninth.
After finishing third in the 10,000-meter run the day before,
Bryony Hawgood finished fourth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:46.12.
Mary Naas also scored in the event by finishing eighth (18:14.15).
Schoustra and
Laura Kammer placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles and were separated by just nine one-thousandth of a second. Schoustra crossed the line in 15.571 seconds, while Kammer was right behind her in 15.580 seconds to post the No. 8 time on St. Olaf's top-10 list.
First year
Ellen Mickelson ran to a fourth-place showing in the 1,500-meter run, finishing just a quarter of a second out of second place with a time of 4:46.95.
St. Olaf's second honorable mention all-conference relay of the day came in the 4x100, where Schoustra, Glaaser, Ash and
Megan Grimes placed fifth (50.73).
Hauch and Glaaser picked up honorable mention nods in the 800-meter run and 200-meter dash, respectively. Hauch took fifth in the 800 (2:18.39) and Glaaser was sixth in the 200 (26.44).
Schoustra scored a point for the Oles in the high jump by placing eighth (1.52m, 4' 11.75"), while senior
Daisy Richmond did so with an eight-place finish in the steeplechase (12:10.75).,

Up next for the Oles is a Last Chance NCAA Qualifier at UW-La Crosse on Thursday, May 16 at 3 p.m. The meet serves as the final opportunity for athletes to improve their times and marks to qualify for the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are held May 23-25 in Geneva, Ohio.
