Fisher, Hawgood, Mickelson post MIAC's top times at Tommie Twilight

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Junior Lisa Fisher, junior Bryony Hawgood and first year Ellen Mickelson posted the top times in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this spring in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, the 5,000-meter run and the 1,500-meter run, as the St. Olaf College women's track and field team competed at the Tommie Twilight on Wednesday.

Fisher posted St. Olaf's lone event victory of the meet by winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:21.35. In addition to being the top time in the MIAC in the event this spring, Fisher's time was just .16 seconds shy of her personal best and ranks 32nd in NCAA Division III this season.

Mickelson finished second in the 1,500-meter run with a personal-best time of 4:44.14, trailing only the University of Minnesota's Ally Smith, who won the event in 4:40.74.

Seniors Kelsey Weed and Hayli Marquette added two more second-place finishes for the Oles, with Weed taking second in the javelin throw (32.77m, 107' 6") and Marquette coming in second in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.13). Marquette's time was a personal best and is the eighth-fastest time in the MIAC.

In the 5,000-meter run, the only runners to finish ahead of Hawgood both came from the University of Minnesota, as the junior was third in 17:34.35. That time currently ranks 34th in the country and is sixth on St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list.

Marquette also placed fourth in the long jump (4.89m, 16' 0.5"), one inch shy of a PR, and was joined in the top seven in the 400-meter hurdles by sophomore Erica Meyers (sixth, 1:13.19) and senior Lori Erlandson (1:15.02). Erlandson also finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.08).

Junior Johanna Glaaser took fourth in the 400-meter dash (57.61) and sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.39), with her personal-best time in the 200 ranking seventh in the MIAC. Senior Makenna Ash finished fifth in the 400-meter dash (58.29).

Sophomore Stephanie Balas and senior Mary Naas recorded sixth-place finishes and posted top-five times in the MIAC in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run, respectively. Balas took sixth in the steeplechase (11:47.88), while Naas completed the 5,000 in 18:15.72.
