St. Olaf 3, UW-Platteville 1 | Box Score

St. Olaf (13-2) started the day by having four players in double figures in kills on its way to a four-set victory over the Pioneers (9-3). The Oles won the first two sets comfortably before dropping a tightly-contested third set, but rebounded to finish off the match in four sets to win its first match of the weekend.

Senior Lauren Rewers paced St. Olaf with 17 kills and just four errors on 41 swings to hit .317. Sophomore Katelyn Lannom, the reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Hitter of the Week, posted 13 kills and hit .400 in the win, while juniors Morgan Marxer and Summer Reid were in double figures with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.

Junior Lexi Wall totaled 52 assists and finished one dig shy of a double-double with nine. Senior Emily Jarnigan posted a match-high 22 digs, while senior Haley Langeslag had 12 to move into ninth in program history in career digs.

St. Olaf 3, Coe 2 | Box Score

In the nightcap, St. Olaf jumped out to a two-sets-to-none lead before Coe rallied to send the match to a decider, but the Oles won the final five points of the match to win their second-straight five-setter.

After rallying from two sets down, the Kohawks held an 8-6 lead in the fifth set before the Oles took just their second lead of the set at 10-9 on a block by Rewers and first year Maddie Knupp. Coe won the next point to even the set at 10-10 before St. Olaf won the final five points of the match to seal the victory. The Kohawks made three attack errors on the final five points in addition to kills from Rewers and Lannom.

Reid tallied a season-high 19 kills for St. Olaf, which got 16 apiece from Rewers and Lannom. Lannom added a career-high 11 total blocks for her first-career double-double, while Rewers made 13 digs for a double-double of her own.

Wall handed out 54 assists to go with 14 digs, four kills and four block assists for the Oles. Jarnigan paced the team with 21 digs, with Langeslag adding 13 to move up another spot to eighth in program history in career digs (1,302).

Kate Tidman matched Reid's total of 19 kills for Coe and one was of three Kohawks in double figures, along with Madi Parson and Morgan Kluesner. Parson had a double-double of 16 kills and 17 digs, while Kluesner recorded 12 kills, eight digs, four assists and three aces.

The Oles never trailed in the first set, building an 18-11 lead at one stage before the Kohawks won five-straight points to get within two. That was as close as Coe would get, however, as three late kills from Reid helped St. Olaf grab the set, 25-20.

In set two, St. Olaf fought back from 19-15 down to grab a 22-21 lead on an ace by Jarnigan. Coe held set points at 24-23 and 25-24, but St. Olaf saved them both before a kill from Reid and an ace by Lannom put the Oles up by two sets.

St. Olaf had three match points to close out the match in straight sets in the third, leading 24-21, but the Kohawks extended the match to a fourth set by winning the last five points of the set. In the fourth, Coe hit a match-high .375 and never trailed after gaining a 3-2 lead early on.

The Oles wrap up the tournament by facing Loras on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m.
