NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Visiting UW-River Falls got goals from four different skaters on its way to a 4-0 victory over the St. Olaf College men's hockey team in non-conference action on Friday evening at St. Olaf Ice Arena.
Gabe Wahl, Sam Anzai, Trey Bagwell and Cayden Cahill accounted for the four UW-River Falls (11-4-2) goals on the night, as the Falcons blanked St. Olaf (2-13-1) behind a 21-save shutout from Zach Quinn, who improved to 8-1-1 on the season. Sophomore
Cooper Lukenda made a career-high 40 saves for the Oles.
Wahl provided the lone goal the Falcons would need on the night just 1:26 into the contest off an assist from Jackson Nauss. Later in the period, UW-River Falls doubled its lead on a power-play goal by Anzai at the 17:00 mark after a major penalty was assessed to St. Olaf.
The Falcons added a pair of goals to their lead in the second period, with Bagwell making it a 3-0 game at 11:25 and Cahill tallying the visitor's second power-play goal of the evening with 19 seconds to go in the period.
Lukenda stopped all 16 shots he faced in the scoreless third period but St. Olaf was unable to convert on a pair of power-play opportunities in the final 20 minutes.
The Oles cap their weekend by hosting UW-Stout at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.
