MANKATO, Minn. – First year
Annika Muller posted the program's second-best mark in the triple jump to highlight the St. Olaf College women's track & field team's performances at the Ted Nelson Classic at Minnesota State University Mankato's Myers Field House on Saturday.
Muller entered the day seventh on St. Olaf's all-time list in the triple jump but moved all the way up to second by jumping 11.00 meters (36' 1 ¼") to place fourth in the event. Junior
Paige Woldt, who holds the school record in the event, joined Muller in the top 10 in seventh with a mark of 10.77 meters (35' 4").
Muller and Woldt's performances were two of seven top-10 showings for St. Olaf on the day. Three others came in the 1,000 meters where sophomore
Ellen Mickelson was second (3:05.19), first year
Christine Albrecht was seventh (3:12.03) and senior
Lisa Fisher was 10th (3:13.22). Mickelson and Albrecht's times were both personal bests.
Senior
Mackenzie Schoustra, the reigning Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, placed eighth in the high jump (1.47m, 4' 9 ¾"), while first year
Ellie Pahl posted a 10th-place finish in the shot put (12.78m, 41' 11 ¼").
As a team, St. Olaf placed 10th in the field of 18 teams with 17.5 points. Minnesota State (134) finished ahead of UW-La Crosse (117) atop the standings.
The Oles travel to St. Paul for the Tommie Showcase on Friday, Feb. 14.
