NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The No. 22-ranked St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team won nine of the 16 events on its way to defeating the College of Saint Benedict, 169-130, in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) dual on Saturday at Skoglund Center Natatorium.
Senior
Maya Knutson, junior
Annika Cleven, senior
Sophia Nevin, and sophomore
Charlotte Thomson all won two individual events, while Knutson, Nevin, and Cleven also swam on the winning 200-yard medley relay for St. Olaf.
Knutson was the first to touch in the 100-yard freestyle (55.42) and 200-yard freestyle (1:58.07), while Thomson won the 500-yard freestyle (5:30.67) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:16.28). Cleven claimed both the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.87) and 200-yard butterfly (2:17.08), while Nevin finished first in both breaststroke events, winning the 100-yard event (1:08.12) and the 200-yard event (2:29.47).
Junior
Maria Newton joined Cleven, Nevin, and Knutson on the first-place 200-yard medley relay that finished in 1:51.68.
Sophomore
Tatum Hauck added a pair of runner-up finishes for the Oles, coming in second to Knutson in the 100-yard freestyle (57.36) and second to Thomson in the 500-yard freestyle (5:35.68). Juniors
Maureen Wainwright and
Allison Purdum also logged second-place showings in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:00.01) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:44.47), respectively.
St. Olaf hosts Gustavus in its second-straight MIAC home dual on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 11 a.m.
