MANKATO, Minn. – Junior
Christine Albrecht was the runner-up in the one-mile run, as a small contingent of competitors from the St. Olaf College women's track and field team got their season started on Saturday at the Chuck Petersen Open at Myers Field House.
Albrecht finished second in the mile with a time of 5:13.05, trailing only Hamline's Alexandra Maddux in the field of 14 runners, to earn eight of St. Olaf's 10 team points in the meet. The only other events the Oles had entrants in were the shot put and weight throw. Albrecht's time in the mile is currently the fourth-fastest in NCAA Division III this season.
Sophomore
Sam Hedtke added the other two points for St. Olaf by finishing seventh in the shot put (11.80 meters, 38' 8 ¾"). Hedtke's mark of 11.80 meters is currently 19th-best in the country.
St. Olaf is next in action at the University of St. Thomas' The Opener on Friday, Dec. 10 in St. Paul.
