SARTELL, Minn. –
Dez Young and
Michael Yousef paired up for a win at No. 2 doubles as the St. Olaf College men's tennis team was defeated by Saint John's University, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at Sta Fit.
Yousef and Young recorded an 8-5 win at the second spot to put a point on the board for St. Olaf (1-2, 1-2 MIAC) heading into singles. Saint John's (2-0, 2-0 MIAC), however, won all six of the singles matches to end any hope of a comeback by the Oles.
Yousef and Young's win was their second in as many matches for St. Olaf. Yousef also won the first set of his No. 2 singles match against Nate Jordre, but Jordre rallied for a 3-6, 6-2, 11-9 victory.
The other five singles matches were all decided in straight sets.
St. Olaf's next match is against Hamline University on Saturday, March 27 at 4 p.m. in Owatonna.
