ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior
Tayler Paulsen posted the top time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the St. Olaf College women's track and field team competed at the Tommie Twilight on Wednesday at O'Shaughnessy Stadium.
Paulsen won the steeplechase with a time of 11:24.56, which ranks fifth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event and 27th in NCAA Division III this season. The senior's win was one of four event victories for the Oles at the meet.
Sophomore
Annika Muller recorded the conference's second-best mark in the long jump this spring, winning the event with a jump of 5.29 meters (14' 4 ¼"). The distance was also good for fifth on the program's all-time list.
St. Olaf's other two event wins came from senior
Jena Hauch in the 800 meters (2:18.81) and classmate
Paige Woldt in the triple jump (11.25m, 36' 11"). Woldt was one of three Oles to finish in the top four in the triple jump, as Muller was third (10.79m, 35' 4 ¾") and first year
Ainslee Parker was fourth (10.58m, 34' 8 ½").
The Oles also had a trio of runner-up finishes, led by junior
Ellen Mickelson's second-place finish in the 1,500 meters. Mickelson's time of 4:41.36 was three-tenths of a second behind Fiona Smith of Saint Benedict and ranks second in the MIAC and 26th in NCAA Division III this season.
First year
Aleah Keske added a second-place showing in the shot put (12.59m, 41' 3 ¾"), while St. Olaf's 4x400-meter relay of
Riki Poore, Hauch,
Karla Kroschel, and
Teresa Pettitt-Kenney was second (4:09.93) as well.
Pettitt-Kenney moved up from eighth to sixth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the pole vault by clearing 3.20 meters (10' 6") to finish sixth. First year
Sam Hedtke also rose one spot on the program list in the shot put with a throw of 11.97 meters (39' 3 ¼").
Sophomore
Rebekah Salfer will represent the Oles in the MIAC heptathlon beginning on Thursday, May 6 at 1 p.m. at Carleton's Laird Stadium.
