NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Senior
Paige Woldt broke her own school record in the triple jump with the seventh-best mark in the country this spring to highlight the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's performances at the Ole Open on Saturday at Manitou Track.
Woldt shattered her own mark of 11.53 meters (37' 10") from earlier this spring by jumping 11.76 meters (38' 7") on her way to winning the event. In addition to being a school record, the senior's mark is seventh in NCAA Division III this season and is half an inch behind the MIAC's top jump this spring, established by Madi Kes of Gustavus.
Woldt's win was one of five event wins for St. Olaf in the meet, including two from first year
Riki Poore. Poore won both the hurdles events, claiming the 100-meter event in 16.28 seconds and the 400-meter event in 1:08.25. The first year's time in the 400-meter hurdles is fifth-best in the MIAC this season.
First year
Aleah Keske moved up to second on St. Olaf's all-time list in the shot put with a winning throw of 13.30 meters (43' 7 ¾"). The throw ranks fourth in the MIAC and 20th in the country this season.
St. Olaf had the top-three finishers in the 800-mter run, led by junior
Ellen Mickelson's time of 2:19.27. Classmate
Samantha Posey was second (2:22.65) and was followed by first year
Kristina Rohrer in third (2:22.93).
Woldt added a second-place finish in the long jump to her win in the triple jump, matching her career-best mark of 5.21 meters (17' 1 ¼") that ranks ninth on the program's all-time list in the event.
First year
Melanie Roberts moved up St. Olaf's all-time list in the pole vault, slotting into seventh after clearing 3.07 meters (10' ¾").
The meet was St. Olaf's final preparation for the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which begin on Friday, May 14 at Hamline University's Klas Field.
