St. Olaf Athletics institutes vaccination policy for home indoor events

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Effective Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, the St. Olaf College athletic department will require proof of vaccination for home indoor events in the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's hockey, and men's and women's swimming and diving for spectators over the age of 12.

All spectators at home events on the St. Olaf campus will be required to show proof of vaccination to gain entry into the venue in the aforementioned sports. The current limit of two spectators per student-athlete per team also remains in effect and those fans must be on a list put together by one of the competing teams.

Guests are expected to leave campus at the conclusion of the event and not congregate with student-athletes afterwards. Per Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) policy, all fans must wear a mask while on campus.

Only St. Olaf students who have permission to be on campus during Interim are permitted to attend home events and those students will be asked to swipe their student ID upon entry.

As announced last month, no fans are allowed at home indoor track and field meets during the month of January due to facility limitations and the large number of competing student-athletes, coaches, and officials.

These policies do not apply to off-campus events in the sports of Nordic and alpine skiing. Attendance at those events is at the discretion of the host institution or venue.

All spectator policies will be revisited on a regular basis. Updates will be communicated via the St. Olaf athletics website (athletics.stolaf.edu) and social media accounts (@stolafathletics - Twitter, Instagram).
