ST. PAUL, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team won 14 of the 16 events to ease to a 201-96 victory over Macalester College in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) dual meet on Saturday at Riley Pool.
Junior
Annika Cleven won three individual events and swam on the first-place 200-yard medley relay to lead the way for St. Olaf, which picked up its second-straight MIAC dual victory. Seniors
Maya Knutson and
Sophia Nevin joined Cleven on the winning relay and won a pair of individual events apiece.
Cleven won the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.67), 100-yard butterfly (1:00.33), and 400-yard individual medley (4:51.97) in addition to swimming the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay 1:52.67). She was joined on the relay by Nevin, Knutson, and first year
Ellen Varley.
Knutson was the first to touch in the 100-yard freestyle (54.44) and 200-yard freestyle (1:59.81), while Nevin won both breaststroke events with times of 1:09.45 in the 100-yard event and 2:34.45 in the 200-yard event.
Sophomore
Izzy Treanor added victories in the one-meter diving (226.40) and three-meter diving (2:05.65), while Varley tacked on a win in the 50-yard freestyle (26.11) in addition to being part of the winning 200-yard medley relay.
Sophomores
Charlotte Thomson,
Rachel Stumpf, and
Tatum Hauck also registered first-place finishes for the Oles. Thomson won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:10.25, Stumpf claimed the 200-yard backstroke in 2:18.56, and Hauck won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:30.41.
The Oles host Carleton on Senior Day on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. Per campus policy, spectators are limited to two per competing student-athlete and must be on a pass list through one of the teams. Proof of vaccination is also required for entry to the meet. St. Olaf students, faculty members, and staff who are on campus for Interim are also able to attend.
