MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – First year
Eric Brown tied the game at 1-1 early for the St. Olaf College men's hockey team, but fourth-ranked Augsburg University scored the game's final six goals to pick up a 7-1 victory and a series sweep on Saturday evening at Ed Saugestad Rink.
After Augsburg (17-2-0, 9-1-0 MIAC) took a 1-0 lead less than seven minutes in, Brown grabbed his fourth goal of the season 90 seconds later to even the game at a goal apiece. The Auggies scored two power-play goals on a double minor late in the first period and went on to strike twice more in each of the final two periods.
St. Olaf got off to a strong start, firing six of the game's first seven shots on goal before Augsburg opened the scoring at 6:28 of the first period on a goal by Austin Dollimer to grab an early lead. The Oles struck back 1:30 later when Brown found the back of the net off assists from sophomore

After a double-minor penalty was whistled on St. Olaf, at 13:23 of the first period, Augsburg scored a pair of goals on the man advantage to take the lead for good. Gavin Holland netted the first power-play tally at 15:19 before Keenan Lund scored the first of his three goals in the game 46 seconds later to make it a 3-1 game after one.
The Auggies maintained their two-goal lead until scoring twice in the final 4:23 of the second period to stretch their led to 5-1 after two. Mason Palmer picked up his third of four assists on the night by setting up Lund's second goal of the game at 15:37 before Nick Woodward made it 5-1 three minutes later.
Lund capped his hat trick inside the first three minutes of the third period and, after scoring the game-winner eight seconds into overtime the night before, Austin Dollimer capped the scoring at 16:12.
St. Olaf was outshot 57-25 in the game and was 0-for-6 on the power play. First year
Thomas Lalonde made 33 saves over the first 35:37 of the game before giving way for sophomore
Lukas Haugen, who made 17 stops over the final 24:23. Samuel Vyletelka stopped 24-of-25 shots to record the win for Augsburg.
With two Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) series remaining, the Oles take on Hamline next weekend, starting with a 7 p.m. puck drop at TRIA Rink in St. Paul on Friday, Feb. 4.
