NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The second-seeded St. Olaf College volleyball team plays host to third-seeded St. Catherine University in the semifinals of the 2022 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Volleyball Playoffs on Thursday evening at Skoglund Center.
St. Olaf (15-12, 8-3 MIAC) earned the No. 2 seed and a bye into the semifinals after an 8-3 regular season, edging two other programs for the second seed by virtue of head-to-head wins over St. Kate's and Bethel University. The Oles take to the court for the first time in the tournament by hosting the Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Per MIAC policy, admission will be charged for all postseason contests. Tickets are $10 adults and $2 for students. Children five and under are admitted for free. The St. Olaf athletic department will cover the cost for St. Olaf students who show their student ID at the ticket table.

Thursday night's other semifinal sees top-seeded Gustavus Adolphus College host the fifth-seeded College of Saint Benedict in St. Peter at 7 p.m. The Bennies knocked out fourth-seeded Bethel University in four sets in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, while the Wildcats needed five sets to down sixth-seeded Augsburg University to advance to take on the Oles.
St. Olaf is making its 13th appearance in the MIAC Volleyball Playoffs since 2000 and are in the tournament for the fifth-straight season under head coach
Emily Foster. The Oles are 14-10 in the MIAC Playoffs since that same year and won tournament titles in 2000, 2002, and 2010. St. Olaf has advanced to the semifinals in four out of the last five editions of the MIAC Playoffs, including a runner-up finish in 2019.
Tuesday night's five-set quarterfinal win over Augsburg was St. Kate's first victory in the MIAC Playoffs since 1983, as the Wildcats qualified for their first conference tournament since 2010 with an 8-3 regular season. St. Kate's rallied from two sets to one down against Augsburg to record a 25-20, 15-25, 25-27, 25-22, 15-7 win on Tuesday, holding the Auggies to a .154 attack percentage and out-acing Augsburg by a 10-2 margin.
St. Olaf and St. Kate's have not met in the MIAC Playoffs since a four-set semifinal victory for the Oles on Nov. 6, 1993. The Oles won the
regular-season meeting in four sets (31-29, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17) in St. Paul on Oct. 7 for their 10th-straight win in the series between the two programs. St. Olaf has won 16 of the last 17 head-to-head meetings since 2006, with the lone St. Kate's win coming in five sets on Oct. 19, 2011 in St. Paul. The Oles have not lost at home to the Wildcats since Oct. 1, 1990 and lead the all-time series by a 41-16 margin.
