Haugen selected as MIAC Defensive Player of the Week

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Junior goaltender Lukas Haugen of the St. Olaf College men's hockey team was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Men's Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Haugen collected the first MIAC weekly accolade of his career after stopping 24 of the 25 shots he faced to pick up the win in St. Olaf's 2-1 victory at Bethel on Saturday night. The junior was two seconds away from his first collegiate shutout before the Royals scored an extra-attacker goal in the final seconds. Thirteen of Haugen's 24 saves came in the third period to help the Oles to the road win.

St. Olaf hosts a pair of nationally-regarded Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opponents this week, as UW-River Falls visits St. Olaf Ice Arena for a 7 p.m. start on Thursday, Nov. 10 and UW-Stevens Point comes to town for a 7 p.m. game on Saturday, Nov. 12. Both teams received votes in Monday's DCU/USCHO Division III Men's Poll.
