Ebner joins men's hockey staff as assistant coach

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Head coach Tyler Lindstrom announced the hiring of Tyler Ebner as a full-time assistant coach for the St. Olaf College men's hockey program on Wednesday.

A former Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) student-athlete at Gustavus Adolphus College, Ebner joined Lindstrom's staff after three seasons on staff for the Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL). His first day at St. Olaf will be June 1.

"We are incredibly excited to add Tyler to the staff here on the Hill," Lindstrom said. "He has shown he can coach at a high level during his time in Minot, and we are excited to add his experience to our bench. I know he will build strong relationships with our current student-athletes and excel at pushing our program forward through the recruiting process."

As associate head coach in 2025-26, Ebner was responsible for Minot's defensemen and power-play unit, coordinating and leading on-ice skill sessions, breaking down video, leading weight room sessions, scouting, and other logistical and administrative duties. Prior to his three seasons in Minot, he was an assistant coach for the NCAA Division III men's hockey program at Fredonia State University, helping the team to a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) playoff berth.

Ebner played four seasons of hockey at Gustavus before graduating in 2022 with a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology and a minor in coaching. A four-time American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) All-American Scholar, he recorded 36 points on 17 goals and 19 assists in 76 games for the Gusties.
