MANKATO, Minn. – Three student-athletes either bettered their standing on the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's all-time indoor list or broke onto the list in an event at the season-opening Chuck Petersen Open on Saturday at Myers Field House.
Senior
Annika Muller, junior
Ainslee Parker, and junior
Peyton Irsfeld all recorded performances that ranked on St. Olaf's top-10 list at the meet, as St. Olaf placed fourth in the nine-team standings.
Muller neared the program record in the long jump with a mark of 5.44 meters to better her own mark that ranks third on St. Olaf's indoor list. The jump was just six centimeters shorter than the record of 5.50 meters set by Jo Arveson in 1983 and ranks ninth in the country in NCAA Division III on the opening weekend.
Parker posted a pair of top-10 performances by an Ole, including rising from fifth to third in program history in the triple jump with a leap of 11.00 meters, which is a top-15 jump in the country to date. The junior also broke into the top 10 in the long jump (5.17m) and was second among NCAA Division III competitors in both events.
Irsfeld rose one spot to seventh on St. Olaf's list in the weight throw with a toss of 13.12 meters on her third throw and was the top NCAA Division III finisher in the event.
The meet was the lone competition of the first semester for St. Olaf, which is back in action on Friday, Jan. 13 when it hosts the Ole Opener at Tostrud Center.
