FARGO, N.D. – The St. Olaf College men's tennis team eased to a 9-0 victory over Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) foe Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday afternoon at Courts Plus.
St. Olaf (6-6, 4-4 MIAC) lost just five games in the three doubles matches and did not drop a set in the six singles matches to blank Concordia-Moorhead (1-16, 0-9 MIAC) for the second-straight year. The Oles have won 14 of the last 15 meetings in the series dating back to 2008.
In doubles, St. Olaf got off to a strong start with 8-1 wins at the top-two spots before first-time pairing
Karsten Johnson and Joao Costa completed the sweep with an 8-3 victory at third doubles. Junior
Henry Smith and sophomore
Max Loesch's 8-1 triumph at No. 2 doubles was their sixth win in their last seven matches, while seniors
Ethan Bruha and
Tim Roback won by the same score at the top spot.
Sophomore
Lorenzo Cazzamali made it four wins in his last five singles matches with a 6-1, 6-3 victory atop the singles lineup, while Bruha and senior
Tony Klagge dropped just one game in their wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Roback earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and is tied with Klagge for the team lead with six singles victories this season.
Sophomore
Jakub Belik recorded a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles and classmate
Ben Anderson logged a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles. Anderson's win kept him undefeated (4-0) in MIAC play this season.
St. Olaf closes out the regular season by hosting Macalester on Senior Day on Tuesday, April 26 at 4:30 p.m.
