Claire Keech was the runner-up in the pentathlon to kick off the St. Olaf College women's track and field team's weekend at the St. Olaf Coed Invitational & Multi on Friday at Tostrud Center.
Keech posted top-two finishes in four of the five events, including personal-best results in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump, to compiled 2,347 points. Her score marked an improvement of 19 points from her tally of 2,328 points at the Ice Breaker Open & Multi in early December.
To start the day, Keech won the 60-meter hurdles with a PR of 10.58 seconds, knocking more than two-tenths of a second off of her previous personal-best time. After a fourth-place performance in the high jump (1.28m), the first year was second in the shot put (9.04m), first in the long jump (4.68m), and second in the 800-meter run (2:55.29).
Sarah Beth Hobby of Macalester won the pentathlon with 2,638 points. Gustavus Adolphus College's duo of Alli Joerger (2,059) and Summer Kaeppe (1,841) rounded out the scores of the four competitors.
The St. Olaf Coed Invitational continues on Saturday, Jan. 28 with field events at 10:30 a.m. and track events at 11 a.m.
