BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomores
Alison Bode and
Sofia Carlson competed in the 3,000-meter run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday evening at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
Bode and Carlson both posted personal-best times and moved up on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event while competing in the meet that included numerous NCAA Division I, II, and III programs. The meet featured 16 heats of the 3,000-meter run, as Carlson placed 162nd (10:00.25) and Bode was 189th (10:08.50).
Carlson took ninth in her heat of 20 competitors while posting the fourth-fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and the 33rd-fastest time in the country this season. Her time also moved the sophomore up from sixth to fourth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event. Bode placed 13th in her heat and rose from 10th to seventh in program history in the event.
In its final meet before the MIAC Indoor Championships, St. Olaf hosts the Tostrud Classic on Saturday, Feb. 18.
