Sixth-ranked Southeastern blanks men's tennis

LAKELAND, Fla. – Facing the No. 6-ranked team in the country at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) level, the St. Olaf College men's tennis team lost 9-0 to Southeastern University on Tuesday at Beerman Family Tennis Complex.

St. Olaf (4-9) got a strong performance from first year Bogdan Vizoli and Henry Kruse at No. 1 doubles against a nationally-ranked tandem in the loss to Southeastern (12-3). The Fire were ranked No. 6 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings and were coming off a narrow 4-3 loss to the top-ranked NAIA team in the country.

Competing against the No. 13-ranked tandem in the country, Vizoli and Smith battled to an 8-6 defeat at No. 1 doubles, as St. Olaf put 13 games on the board across the three doubles matches. Junior Max Loesch and first year Henry Kruse won four games in their match at No. 2 doubles, while juniors Ben Anderson and Jakub Belik claimed three games at No. 3 doubles.

Southeastern did not drop more than three games in any of the 12 sets across the six singles matches. Vizoli was responsible for six of the 14 games the Oles won in singles with his 6-3, 6-3 loss at No. 1 singles.

St. Olaf wraps up its trip by matching up with Warner University, another NAIA program, on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. CDT at the USTA National Campus.
