Lauren Walda all ran top-10 times in program history in the 10,000-meter run while representing the St. Olaf College women's track and field at the 113th Drake Relays on Thursday evening.
Competing in a field that included 20 NCAA Division I runners among the 31 finishers, Bode, Carlson, and Walda either improved their standing or broke onto St. Olaf's all-time list in the 10,000-meter run at the prestigious meet.
Bode shattered her previous personal-best time in the event by over 84 seconds and recorded a top-10 finish by placing eighth in 35:59.01. The eighth-place finish was the best by an NCAA Division III runner in the event. The sophomore's time moved her up from fifth to second on St. Olaf's all-time list and ranks fourth in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and 17th in NCAA Division III this season.
Carlson also established a new personal-best time of 36:47.10 and finished 14th, beating out 11 NCAA Division I runners in the race. The sophomore's time broke her previous personal-best time by over 22 seconds, kept her fourth on St. Olaf's all-time list, and ranks fifth in the MIAC, which has two of the top-three times in the country in the 10K this season.
In her first collegiate 10K race, Walda recorded a 21st-place performance in 37:14.86, breaking onto St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in sixth place.
The Oles head to Macalester College on Saturday, April 29 for the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational starting at 10 a.m.
