NORTHFIELD, Minn. – Seniors
Tessa Anderson (women's soccer) and
Lucas Kramarczuk (men's track and field) were recognized as the 2022-23 recipients of the Dave Hauck Award by the St. Olaf College Athletic Department at the first Golden Oles Awards on Tuesday evening.
Established in 2010 in honor of longtime head men's and women's swimming and diving coach Dave Hauck, the award is given annually to one female and one male senior student-athlete who have demonstrated high levels of academic achievement, community service, and athletic excellence. Anderson and Kramarczuk are the 21st and 22nd recipients of the award.
Anderson is the first student-athlete from the St. Olaf women's soccer program to earn the honor, while Kramarczuk is the seventh honoree from men's track and field. Of the seven men's track and field honorees, Kramarczuk is the first who did not participate in another sport during his time at St. Olaf.
"Congratulations to Tessa and Lucas," said St. Olaf Athletic Director Ryan Bowles. "Tessa and Lucas have both excelled in the classroom, in the community, and in their respective sports and embody everything the Hauck Award represents. These two are very deserving of our department's highest honor. We are very proud of them and can't wait to see their future successes.
FEMALE HONOREE: TESSA ANDERSON, WOMEN'S SOCCER
Despite missing nearly an entire season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Anderson is among the all-time offensive leaders in the history of St. Olaf women's soccer and is one of five three-time All-MIAC honorees in program history.
Anderson earned All-MIAC honors in each of her three full seasons as an Ole and closed out her career by being selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region IX Second Team this fall. In 52 career games, Anderson racked up 55 points on 24 goals and seven assists, scoring at least seven goals in each of her three full seasons.
Despite having her sophomore season reduced to one game due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Anderson ranks eighth in program history in points (55), ninth in goals (24), and tied for 10th in game-winning goals (6). She is St. Olaf's all-time leader in shots per game (4.20) and shots on goal per game (2.27), while ranking second in both shots (214) and shots on goal (116), and is fourth in both points per game (1.08) and goals per game (0.47). Her four game-winning goals this past fall are tied for the fifth-highest total in program history.
Anderson will graduate later this month as a chemistry major and was named to the MIAC Academic All-Conference Team the maximum of three times over her career. She is one of five College Sports Communicators – formerly College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) – Academic All-District honorees in program history, earning the honor this fall in addition to being selected to the 2022 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-North/Central Region Third Team. Anderson was also inducted into St. Olaf's chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma – the national collegiate student-athlete honor society – as a junior.
While at St. Olaf, Anderson was the president of a club that volunteered once a week to visit with, play games with, and be pen pals with the residents of Millstream commons, a retirement home in Northfield. She also co-founded a club that volunteers once weekly at Northfield's Three Links Care Center. Additionally, Anderson served on St. Olaf Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB) Special Olympics Subcommittee.
"Tessa is incredibly deserving of the Hauck Award," said head women's soccer coach
Becky Maines. "She exemplifies everything you would want on and off the field in a student-athlete. I'm so very proud of how she has represented this program and this college and I have no doubt that she's going to be extremely successful in the next step of her journey."

He has also spent time volunteering with Northfield Community Education track and field, Oles for Opportunity, and was part of a group of students who put together at-home science exploration kits as part of a physics academic civic engagement (ACE) project.
"Lucas has taken a purely academic approach to his training and competition and has the best body awareness of any athlete I've worked with," said head men's cross country and track and field coach
Brian Power. "As an athlete, his knowledge of his events is on par with many seasoned coaches. He embodies the Division III spirit, performing at the national level in two different track disciplines while pursuing a double major in the sciences and being a four-year member of the St. Olaf Band. Lucas has put his name in contention to be considered one of the best track athletes in our storied history."
