NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both defeated by Carleton College in their Senior Day Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) duals on Saturday at Skoglund Natatorium.
The St. Olaf women won nine events in their 164-133 loss to the Knights, while the men posted five first-place finishes in a 189-104 defeat. Both teams celebrated their members of the Class of 2024 during the meet.

Marcus Hauck each claimed one event title.
Thomson was the top finisher in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.92) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:04.16), Sylvester won the 200-yard backstroke (2:13.20) and 200-yard individual medley (2:17.04), and Schmitzer swept the titles in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.73) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.51).
Treanor posted the day's top score across the two sessions of the one-meter diving with a score of 448, while Hauck raced to a win in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.42). Hauck, Thomson, and Sylvester also swam on the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay (3:49.28) along with senior
Rachel Stumpf.
Yung placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:15.46) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:02.83) to lead the way for the Ole men. Starcevich sprinted to a win in the 50-yard freestyle (22.45), while Hauck took first in the 100-yard backstroke (54.18). Hanifl registered the top score in both sessions of the one-meter diving and had a combined score of 479.2 across the two sessions.
The meet was the final full meet for St. Olaf before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Championships, which will be held Feb. 14-17 at the University of Minnesota's Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. The Oles will send some divers to the Dodd Road Diving Invite on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Carleton's Thorpe Pool.
