Women's track and field wins five events at home invite

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's track and field team had five individual event winners at the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi on Friday and Saturday at Tostrud Center.

Sophomore Isabel Wyatt, senior Sophie Call, and sophomore Lauren Walda all won events on the track for the Oles, while first year Mara Larson and sophomore Ashlyn Jore posted first-place finishes in field events. As a team, St. Olaf placed third in the 12-team standings with 108.5 points, trailing Gustavus Adolphus College (118.5) and Bethel University (114.5).

Call led a 1-2-3 finish for St. Olaf in the one-mile run with a winning time of 5:19.67, with first year Siri Erickson and sophomore Ella Landis in second and third with times of 5:22.93 and 5:25.26, respectively. Wyatt broke onto St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the 600-meter run with a first-place time of 1:38.08, while Walda won the 5,000-meter run in 17:24.26, which ranks fifth in program history. Walda's converted time of 17:16.53 sits 21st in the country this season.

Jore produced the top jump in the long jump with a mark of 5.41 meters (17' 9") on her second attempt to win the event by nearly seven inches. The jump was just two centimeters shy of the sophomore's MIAC-leading mark of 5.43 meters from earlier this season. Larson and Ally Rakow of Gustavus both cleared 1.53 meters (5' ¼") in the high jump, but Larson won the event with fewer misses than Rakow after clearing four heights without a miss.

First year Molly DiNardo recorded St. Olaf's lone runner-up finish of the meet in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.59, while senior Ainslee Parker was third in the triple jump (10.46m, 34' 3"). Senior Riki Poore broke onto St. Olaf's all-time top-10 list in the 60-meter hurdles by clocking in with a fifth-place time of 9.57 seconds in the finals after qualifying for the finals with a time of 9.65 seconds in the prelims.

The Oles are back in action at the Gopher Classic at the University of Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 3.
