WINONA, Minn. – The St. Olaf College volleyball team hit 12 aces while sweeping Saint Mary's University by scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-18 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on Saturday at Saint Mary's Gymnasium.
St. Olaf (12-4, 2-1 MIAC) had eight aces in the second set alone to cruise to the sweep of Saint Mary's (9-10, 0-3 MIAC) in its fifth sweep of the season. In addition to the 12 aces, the Oles hit .254 in the match and held the Cardinals to a .115 clip on the afternoon.

Maren Miller all hit multiple aces for St. Olaf, with Fildew matching her career high with five to lead the way. Miller delivered three, while Deist and Christophersen had two apiece.

Lilah Van Scoyoc stretched her double-double streak to six matches with a team-high 12 kills and 10 digs for the Oles. Junior
Holly Jelinek contributed a career-high seven kills in a balanced offensive attack, which included six kills apiece from Miller and first year
Mehsa Krause. Christophersen added 21 assists and eight digs to her two aces, while junior
Morgan Ryan made a team-high 19 digs to go with four assists.
Van Scoyoc got it going early offensively for St. Olaf with five kills in the opening set. After trailing 3-2 early, the Oles won five points in a row to take a lead they did not relinquish the rest of the set. Up by four midway through the set at 13-9, St. Olaf extended its lead to 18-10 with a 6-2 run and led by as many as nine later in the set.
Christophersen, Miller, and Fildew combined for seven of St. Olaf's eight aces in the second set as the Oles went up two sets to none with a 25-15 set win. Saint Mary's used back-to-back aces of its own to get within one at 15-14 midway through the set before St. Olaf won 10 of the final 11 points, with Miller delivering three aces during the 6-0 run that started the spurt to end the set.
Miller produced kills on five of her eight swings in the third set to help the Oles close out the sweep. Three of the sophomore's five kills in the set came in a 7-0 run that broke the set open at 20-10 for St. Olaf.
The Oles will host crosstown-rival Carleton College on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Skoglund Center.
