BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore
Katie Homme of the St. Olaf College women's swimming and diving team was honored as the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
Homme, who transferred to St. Olaf from Davidson College ahead of her sophomore season, picked up the first MIAC Athlete of the Week accolade of her career after finishing in the top two in all three of her individual swims for the Oles in their dual at Gustavus Adolphus College on Saturday. Tuesday's announcement made Homme just the second Ole women's swimmer to be chosen as a MIAC Athlete of the Week since 2020.
On Saturday, Homme won the 100-yard freestyle (54.72) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:19.61) and was second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:59.57), while also swimming on the third-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:42.49). Homme's time in the 100 free is the fastest in the MIAC this season, while her time in the 500 free ranks second in the conference.
St. Olaf will split its swimmers and divers up for the Rochester Invitational (Dec. 5-7) and Macalester Invitational (Dec. 6-7).
