WAVERLY, Iowa – Sophomore
Lauren Walda and senior
Bella Call of the St. Olaf College women's track and field team ran in the 5,000-meter run at the Wartburg Final Qualifier on Saturday at Hoover Field House and Indoor Track.
In their last chance to post a national-qualifying time, Walda was fourth (17:26.69) and Call was fifth (17:34.61) in the 10-runner field. Entering the meet, runners needed to run a sub-17:03 time to break into the top 20 nationally and position themselves for a spot at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Call's time was a personal best and moved her into sixth on St. Olaf's all-time list in the event, just behind Walda.
St. Olaf's outdoor season will begin with the WashU Distance Carnival on Friday, March 29 in St. Louis, Mo.
