MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The St. Olaf College women's track and field team compiled five top-15 finishes at the unscored Gary Wilson Invitational on Wednesday at the University of Minnesota Track & Field Stadium.
Sophomore
Grace Moeller and fifth-year senior
Rebekah Salfer registered top-10 performances in the 1,500-meter run and 100-meter hurdles, respectively, while senior
Karla Kroschel, senior
Ruth Pfeiffer, and sophomore
Isabel Wyatt added top-15 results at the unscored meet.
Moeller turned in a personal-best time of 4:47.15 to finish eighth in the 1,500-meter run for St. Olaf's top finish of the meet. The sophomore was third in the event among NCAA Division III runners.
Salfer won her heat in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles in 15.64 seconds before shaving over two-tenths of a second off the time in the finals. The fifth-year senior's time of 15.43 seconds in the finals was her fastest of the season and ranks fifth in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.
Kroschel was fourth among NCAA Division III runners in the 400-meter dash, placing 13th overall in 59.49 seconds. Pfeiffer established a personal-best clearance in the high jump by clearing 1.51 meters (4' 11 ½") to tie for 13th. First year
Mara Larson also cleared the same height and tied for 16th on misses.
Wyatt knocked over two seconds off her previous personal-best time in the 800-meter run in her 15th-place showing in 2:16.46. That time was fourth among NCAA Division III runners in the event and ranks third in the conference this spring.
On Thursday, April 25, St. Olaf has a group of hammer throwers competing at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational at Macalester College at 3:30 p.m. and four distance runners running at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa during the evening.
