BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Sophomore Ethan Hess (football) and senior Morgan Ryan (volleyball) were each selected as one of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Athletes of the Week, as announced on Monday afternoon.

Hess was named the MIAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week and Ryan was honored as the MIAC Volleyball Specialist of the Week, with both Oles earning the accolade for the second time this season. Ryan's accolade was the third of her career and the sixth MIAC Athlete of the Week honor for the St. Olaf volleyball program this season.

Hess connected on both of his field goals - totaling 83 yards - and his lone PAT for St. Olaf in Saturday's 35-21 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College. The sophomore hit field goals of 44 and 39 yards, with the 44-yarder in the first quarter being the longest field goal made by an Ole since 2013.
 
Ryan tallied 47 digs (5.88 per set), seven aces (0.88 per set), and 11 assists (1.38 per set) to help St. Olaf stretch its winning streak to 11 matches with victories over Hamline University and No. 24-ranked Gustavus last week. After recording 22 digs, five aces, and eight assists in Wednesday's road sweep of the Pipers, the senior had 25 digs, two aces, and three assists in a five-set win over the nationally-ranked Gusties on Friday, which was Gustavus' first MIAC regular-season loss since 2021.
