NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The top-seeded St. Olaf College volleyball team will host the third-seeded College of Saint Benedict in the championship match of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoffs on Saturday night.
St. Olaf (26-7) and Saint Ben's (20-6) will meet for the MIAC Playoff title and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Skoglund Center. The meeting will be just the second between the two programs in the championship match and the first since 2009.
St. Olaf returned to the championship match for the third time in four seasons by
sweeping fourth-seeded Bethel University in the semifinals at home on Thursday night. The Oles hit .336 as a team held held the Royals to a .062 clip to post the 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 sweep. Meanwhile, Saint Ben's outlasted second-seeded and No. 23-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College in
five sets in St. Peter to send the defending champions back to the title match.
Per MIAC policy, admission will be charged throughout the MIAC Playoffs and all tickets will be sold online through
HomeTown Ticketing. There will be no cash sales at any venue, but tickets can be purchased at any time using a mobile device. Tickets are $12 (plus HTT service charge) for adults and $3 (plus HTT service charge) for students (with ID). Children ages five and under are admitted for free. MIAC passes are accepted for the MIAC Playoffs, but no other passes are valid.
This year, the MIAC is implementing a one-year pay-per-view trial for the live streams of the MIAC Playoffs for all team sports. All games will be streamed on the MIAC Sports Network and fans can purchase a single-game pass for $10 or a "championship pass" for $25 to stream the entire tournament. On-demand access to all playoff games will be available after the NCAA Tournament concludes.

This year marks St. Olaf's ninth appearance in the championship match of the MIAC Playoffs (2000-02, 2009-20, 2019, 2022-23, 2025) and its eighth under the current format started in 2001. The Oles are 3-5 all-time in MIAC Playoff title matches, winning the postseason crown in 2000, 2002, and 2010.
Saint Ben's is making its 10th appearance in the championship match and is 3-6 all-time in playoff title matches, with its three titles coming in 2009, 2017, 2024. Last season, the Bennies upset the top-two seeds in the semifinals and finals to win the MIAC Playoffs as the No. 4 seed.
Saturday night's match will be the sixth matchup between St. Olaf and Saint Ben's in the MIAC Playoffs. The Oles have won four of the previous five, including semifinal wins in 2010, 2019, and 2023 in the three most recent encounters, although the Bennies swept the Oles in the lone meeting in the championship match in 2009. St. Olaf won the regular-season meeting in
four sets in St. Joseph on Oct. 24.
