RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Senior Kobe Kirk and sophomore AJ Uhl both had 20-point performances for the St. Olaf College men's basketball team in an 86-80 non-conference loss to UW-River Falls on Wednesday evening at Don Page Arena.

Kirk and Uhl scored 20 points apiece to account for half of the scoring for St. Olaf (1-3), but UW-River Falls shot 56.4 percent (31-for-55) as a team and scored 51 second-half points in the win. The Falcons shot 72.7 percent (16-for-22) from the field and 77.3 percent (17-for-22) from the free-throw line in the second half to break a 35-35 halftime tie.

Uhl matched his career high with 20 points by shooting 9-for-15 from the field in the loss. Kirk was 6-for-12 from the field and 8-for-10 at the free-throw line in his second game of the season with at least 20 points.

Sophomore Liam Madigan added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists, while sophomore Rex Lamb hit 5-of-9 shots on an 11-point night. St. Olaf shot 46.3 percent (31-for-67) from the field but was just 5-for-24 (20.8 percent) from behind the arc. The Oles committed just six turnovers in the loss and turned 12 UW-River Falls turnovers into 23 points at the other end.

Jack Leifker had five early points as part of a 7-2 start for the Falcons as part of his 12-point first half. The 7-2 run to open the game was part of a 17-6 start for the hosts over the first 6:37. Uhl scored the next five points to get the Oles back within six and start an extended 19-5 run that eventually gave St. Olaf a 25-22 lead with 5:51 to go in the half.

A three-point play by Kirk with 1:10 left in the first half resulted in the Oles' largest lead of the night at 35-31 before the Falcons closed the half with back-to-back buckets by Leifker to tie the game. Seventeen of St. Olaf's 35 first-half points came off eight UW-River Falls turnovers.

In the second half, the Oles used a 7-0 run to take their largest lead of the night at 55-49 with 11:32 remaining after a jumper by Kirk. The Falcons put together a 7-0 run of their own midway through the half to grab a 61-57 lead and led the rest of the way. Micah Thompson scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half and added 14 rebounds for a double-double for the hosts.
