NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Head coach
Tyler Lindstrom and the St. Olaf College men's hockey program announced the hiring of
Dylan Johnson as an assistant coach on Monday.
A former NCAA Division III student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Johnson joined Lindstrom's staff after a two-year professional career playing for the Birmingham Bulls in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). After concluding his playing career after the 2023-24 season, Johnson was an assistant coach for the boys' hockey program at Cloquet High School in his hometown.
"We are very excited to add Dylan to our staff," Lindstrom said. "He knows what it takes to be successful at our level and will be a huge part of our program as we continue to build on our recent success. His investment in the game as both a player and coach will be a huge asset for our team from a player development standpoint, and I look forward to seeing the impact he has on our student-athletes as players and as people. I am thrilled to welcome Dylan to the Hill!"
After racking up 114 points in 102 career games at Cloquet, Johnson played parts of three seasons in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and recorded 62 points on 33 goals and 29 assists in 108 regular-season games. At UW-Superior, Johnson accumulated 60 points on 30 goals and 30 assists in 64 games. He earned Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) postseason honors in all three seasons, as he was a First Team All-WIAC honoree and WIAC Newcomer of the Year in 2019-20, an Honorable Mention All-WIAC selection in 2020-21, and a First Team All-WIAC honoree in 2021-22.
"I am eager and excited to join the staff at St. Olaf," Johnson said. "They have done an amazing job moving the program forward. I am looking forward to being part of the program and helping continue to push the team in the right direction."
