NEW ORLEANS, La. – The St. Olaf College men's track and field team was ranked No. 11 in the first release of the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field National Track & Field Rating Index, as released on Tuesday afternoon by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
St. Olaf came in at No. 11 at Indoor Checkpoint #1 with a score of 47.92 points, slotting in one spot ahead of the College of St. Scholastica for the highest spot among Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) programs. The USTFCCCA TFRI is a mathematical system used to rank collegiate track and field teams based on current season performances only.
The Oles earned the No. 11 ranking on the strength of eight individual top-30 rankings, highlighted by seniors
Lance Nemecek and
Cullen Moore, who rank No. 2 (1:54.02) and No. 3 (1:54.16), respectively, in the 800-meter run. A full list of St. Olaf's individual contributors to the TFRI is below.
St. Olaf also had three event groups ranked in the top 25 nationally, ranking No. 1 in the 800-meter run, No. 7 in the 5,000-meter run, and No. 16 in the one-mile run.
The Oles will be back in action at home at the St. Olaf Invitational & Multi on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
