ST. PAUL, Minn. – Sophomore
Jackson Bullock won the 1,000-meter run as part of the St. Olaf College men's track and field team's 13 top-five individual showings at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on Saturday at the Leonard Center.
Bullock established a new meet record in the 1,000-meter run with his winning time of 2:32.18, which was also the second-fastest time in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season. As a team, St. Olaf took second in the 12-team field with 106 points, trailing only NCAA Division II University of Minnesota Duluth's total of 168.5.
Senior
Kevin Turlington ran the MIAC's No. 2 time in the one-mile run this season (4:18.42) to finish as the runner-up, while junior
Alex Bjork was fifth (4:22.91) with the fifth-fastest time in the conference to date. First year
Trigg Heimdal led three Oles in the top four in the 800-meter run with a second-place time of 1:57.99, followed by Turlington in third (2:00.04) and sophomore
Aaron Ruesink in fourth (2:00.40).
First year
Paxon Myers was just one one-hundredth of a second shy of a win in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:21.83, which ranks third in the MIAC this season. That time was also good for third on St. Olaf's all-time performers' list and fourth on its all-time performances list. Junior
Christian Fells (4th, 1:22.93) and sophomore
Austin McInturff (5th, 1:23.40) were also in the top five, with Fells' time ranking seventh on the Oles' performances list.
Senior
Gael Manzur Strandlund added a runner-up performance in the 3,000-meter run (8:58.24), while junior
Max Albertson was fourth in the long jump (6.55m, 21' 6"). Albertson and first year
Noah Hruby also turned in top-10 times on St. Olaf's performers' list in the 60-meter dash, with Albertson sliding up to a tie for seventh (7.16) and Hruby into a tie for ninth (7.19).
St. Olaf will host the St. Olaf Invitational and Multi on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31. The heptathlon will start at 3 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. On Saturday, field events will start at 10 a.m. and track events at 11 a.m.
