St. Olaf remains in top 50 in Learfield Directors' Cup standings through winter season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – At the conclusion of the winter season, St. Olaf College ranked No. 44 out of 429 NCAA Division III institutions in the Learfield Directors' Cup, as the updated standings were announced on Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

Despite not scoring any points in the winter season, St. Olaf sat just outside the top 10 percent of NCAA Division III institutions and continued to be the highest-ranked Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) member in the standings with 241.0 points. St. Olaf's point total was 17 more than Bethel University, which was the only other MIAC member in the top 50.

The Learfield Directors' Cup is a program that honors institutions maintaining a broad-based athletics program, awarding points based on each institution's national finishes in the NCAA Championships. All of St. Olaf's points came from the fall season as a result of its finishes in men's soccer (83 points), men's cross country (63 points), volleyball (50 points), and women's cross country (45 points) teams.

St. Olaf's standing through the winter season is a 25-spot improvement on last year's 69th-place performance and marks the fourth time in the last five years that St. Olaf has been ranked inside the top 50 at this point in the academic year.
