NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Madison Van Wylen won the last two events -- the long jump and 800 meters -- in a come-from-behind victory in the MIAC pentathlon on Thursday evening at Carleton College to kick off the MIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Van Wylen had a mark of 5.10 meters in the long jump on her first try and closed the event with a 2:22.72 in the 800 to hold off Saint Benedict's Megan Sundstrom, who was second in the 800 and the pentathlon. The St. Olaf senior was third in each of the first two events, the 55 hurdles and high jump. 

The MIAC Championships resume on Friday morning.
