BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Senior running back
Khayleb Willis of the St. Olaf College football team was named the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Offensive Player of the Week on Monday for the second time in his career on Monday afternoon.
Willis carried the ball 32 times for a career-high 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns for St. Olaf in a 33-20 victory at Luther on Saturday to help the Oles improve to 2-0 on the season. The senior had nine runs of 10 yards or more on his way to the most rushing yards in a game by an Ole since Leon Clark '12 ran for 261 on Nov. 14, 2009 in a 34-20 victory over Hamline.
Through two games, Willis leads NCAA Division III in rushing yards (351) and is tied for second in rushing touchdowns (5). His 257 yards in the win over Luther is the second-highest total by a Division III rusher this season.
The Deltona, Fla. native was previously named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week as a sophomore on Oct. 16, 2017 after rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown in a 22-20 win over Augsburg.
St. Olaf hosts crosstown rival Carleton in the MIAC opener for both schools on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. in the 100th meeting between the two programs.
