MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Senior
Johanna Glaaser broke her own school record in the 400-meter dash by one one-hundredth of a second to headline the St. Olaf College women's track & field team's performances at the Minnesota Open on Saturday at the University of Minnesota.
Glaaser placed second in the 400 with a time of 57.91 seconds, finishing .01 seconds ahead of her time from last season's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. The University of Minnesota's Val Larson, an All-Big Ten honoree last season, was the lone competitor to finish ahead of Glaaser, crossing the line in 56.88 seconds.
Glaaser's school-record performance was one of 19 top-10 performances for St. Olaf on the day. First year
Ellie Pahl also produced a standout performance in the shot put, placing fifth (12.83m) to move up to second on the program's all-time list in the shot put, passing Stacy Griffin's mark of 12.74 meters from 2006.
Senior
Mackenzie Schoustra recorded three top-10 finishes, placing fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.44), sixth in the high jump (1.57m) and eighth in the long jump (4.93m).
Seniors
Laura Kammer and
Emily Bohlig also logged two top-10 showings. Kammer was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.69) and ninth in the 60-meter dash (8.57), while Bohlig placed fifth in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.57 meters and was ninth in the long jump (4.89m).
In the mile, first year
Christine Albrecht took fourth (5:25.31) and sophomore
Ellen Mickelson was seventh (5:37.78). Sophomore
Kierra Carter (fourth, 8.98m) and Kayla LaRue (fifth, 8.91m) finished in the top five in the triple jump, with LaRue's mark being the best of her career.
St. Olaf placed three in the top 10 in the 800 meters, as first year
Riley Mauzer (2:35.63), first year
Lauren Johnson (2:37.65) and junior Liv Gossard (2:42.64) finished 7-8-9 in the event.
In her first collegiate 600, sophomore
Lucia Ranallo placed sixth (1:51.04). First year
Teresa Pettitt-Kenney was ninth in the high jump (1.47m) and was part of the sixth-place 4x400-meter relay (4:25.04) along with Mauzer,
Anna Duffy and
Katie Elstad.
St. Olaf hosts its next two meets, beginning with the St. Olaf Triangular on Friday, Jan. 17.
