WAVERLY, Iowa – Junior
Paige Woldt broke the school record in the triple jump as seven members of the St. Olaf College women's track & field team competed at the Wartburg Qualifier at Hoover Field House on Saturday.
With a jump of 11.14 meters, Woldt broke the school record in the triple jump for the second time this season on her way to a sixth-place finish. Her mark was just ahead of the previous record of 11.12 meters set by first year
Annika Muller at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships last week.
Senior
Johanna Glaaser and first year
Ellie Pahl fell just short of the school records in the 400 meters and shot put, respectively. Glaaser was five one-hundredths of a second shy of her program-best mark in the 400, finishing second in 57.96 seconds, while Pahl improved her second-best mark in program history by placing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.46 meters. The mark came on her sixth and final throw and was only 3.25 inches shy of Anne Rohach's school record of 13.54 meters.
Sophomore
Ellen Mickelson and first year
Christine Albrecht competed in the mile, with Mickelson placing fifth in 5:09.56 and Albrecht finishing 17th in 5:19.18. Albrecht's time was the best of her collegiate career, while Mickelson's leaves her with an outside chance of qualifying for the national meet.
Muller joined Woldt in the triple jump and posted a 12th-place performance with a jump of 10.77 meters. Senior
Laura Kammer was 16th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.47 seconds.
The top 20 marks/times in the country in the event qualify for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C. on March 13-14. The entrants will be announced on Sunday, March 8 on
www.ncaa.com.
Prior to Saturday's last chance meets, Glaaser was 15th in the country in the 400 meters, positioning her to qualify for the national indoor meet for the second year in a row, pending the results of other last chance meets around the country. Senior
Mackenzie Schoustra was also 15th nationally in the pentathlon entering the day.
