MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Numerous alumni from the St. Olaf College men's and women's cross country and track and field programs competed in the 2021 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend this past weekend in Minneapolis and St. Paul.
In the men's 10-miler, Oles accounted for three of the top-10 finishers as Thomas Lerdall '19 was fifth, Calvin Lehn '16 was seventh, and Joe Coffey '17 was eighth, while
Sam Stresemann '21 was 28th. In the women's 10-miler, Lindsey Kemp '18 finished 13th, Emma Lee '13 was 17th, Lisa Fisher '20 placed 24th, and Moriah Novacinski '14 was 31st.
In the women's marathon, Dana Horgen '09 and Maddie Barrett '13 were among the top-50 finishers with Horgen crossing the line in 14th and Barrett in 46th. Below are lists of alumnae of the women's program who competed in the marathon and 10-miler, although the lists are likely not all-inclusive.
Also during the marathon,
Rachael Bentley '19 was one of two guides who helped Laura Sosalla, who was declared legally blind in March, through the race. In 2019, Bentley made an account with an organization called United In Stride, which connects visually-impaired runners with sighted guides. Sosalla successfully finished the marathon, with Bentley guiding her through the second half of the race.
