NEW ORLEANS, La. – Five members of the nationally-ranked St. Olaf College men's and women's cross country teams were officially recognized with U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-North Region honors on Monday.
Seniors
Jack Deaver,
Gael Manzur Strandlund, and
Kevin Turlington were the three honorees for the St. Olaf men, while senior
Lauren Walda and sophomore
Abi Lindquist were recognized from the women's team. In order to earn all-region honors, student-athletes must place in the top 35 at one of the 10 regional sites.
Turlington collected his third USTFCCCA All-North Region honor in a row after finishing sixth at the NCAA Division III North Region Championships on Saturday. Deaver (17th) and Manzur Strandlund (21st) landed their second regional honors in a row.
Walda joined Bryony Hawgood '20 (2016-19) as the lone four-time all-region performers for the St. Olaf women since 2010 by placing fourth, while Lindquist grabbed her first regional honor with a 30th-place performance.
Both St. Olaf teams will close out their seasons at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, S.C. The men's 8K will start at 9 a.m. CST, followed by the women's 6K at 10 a.m. CST.
